TWiki's Magnetism webKonstantin L. Metlov, Project developer, Project scientist napísal: Just about everything is different, from objects of research to the employed approaches. Spinhenge is about molecules, consisting of a few (dozens) discrete spins. Here the objects are soft ferromagnetic nano-particles of hundreds of millions of atoms. The approaches are also different. Spinhenge uses direct numerical simulation (numerical experiment) to solve the forward problem of evolution of the system. Here we do not simulate the evolution of the system directly, but just map its potential as a function of several scalar parameters of the theory (generalized coordinates). Having the potential calculated (for a particular shape, like circular cylinder) allows to solve infinite set of forward problems (asking for the state in a particular geometry) and inverse problems (asking for a set of geometries, supporting particular magnetic states).
That is, one our mapped potential \"contains within itself\" an infinite number of direct simulations for different particle sizes, aspect ratios, materials, etc. All in just one file. There are, of course, approximations in the theory, allowing for such a high compression, but they were working quite well so far and pushing them to the limit is also a goal of our project.
